In Spring and Autumn, for experienced riders, day-long treks are organised, giving unforgettable itineraries a more sporty feel.

Go rock-climbing on the foothills of the Cévennes

Big thrills on a cliff of the Gard: The Gard and Hérault departments each have a multitude of cliffs for rock-climbing, which each have their own specificities.

Close to the hotel Estelou in Sommieres, you’ll find small “school” cliffs such as those of Auzon or Aubais, which will allow beginners to take their first steps in rock-climbing.

For experienced and passionate climbers, you’ll find in both the Gard department and the Hérault department (with the hotel being located at the limit between the two) legendary rock-climbing cliffs with a reputation that’s unavoidable for enthusiasts.

Seynes and Russan obviously count among these. Finally, those who like to use clamps will also be able to take part in their favourite activity on the Cappelle site.

Definitely the wildest and most beautiful beach in the Gard: Situated just 20 minutes away from the hotel, the beach of l’Espiguette is definitely the wildest in the region. Here, you’ll find no urbanisation, only dunes and pine forests along a dozen kilometres. A sandy landscape that stretches as far as the eye can see and makes us feel like we’re on an island. Sand and pebbles for this beach that’s still protected from the summertime overpopulation: On this beach made of sand and pebbled areas, you’ll find a protected seafront and shore. The water is often clearer than elsewhere. A free space, the “swimming costume” swimmers and naturists rub shoulders without any awkwardness.

How to get there: 5km from the Frontignan-Plage exit on the D60, in direction of Des Aresquiers. Car park 500m away.

La Tamarissière beach in Agde

Lined by a 200 year-old pine forest, this beach gets it names from the Tamarix, a shrub with pastel rose coloured petals: La Tamarissière beach in Agde offers an ideal setting for you to swim. Between the sea and the Hérault River, a stroll will allow you to discover the Tamarixes, planted in the 18th century.

How to get there: 3,6km away from the centre of Agde via the D32E12, on the right bank of the Hérault river’s mouth.
