Close to the hotel Estelou in Sommieres, you’ll find small “school” cliffs such as those of Auzon or Aubais, which will allow beginners to take their first steps in rock-climbing.
For experienced and passionate climbers, you’ll find in both the Gard department and the Hérault department (with the hotel being located at the limit between the two) legendary rock-climbing cliffs with a reputation that’s unavoidable for enthusiasts.

How to get there: 6km South from Le Grau-du-Roi, via the D62B and D255B roads
Sand and pebbles for this beach that’s still protected from the summertime overpopulation: On this beach made of sand and pebbled areas, you’ll find a protected seafront and shore. The water is often clearer than elsewhere. A free space, the “swimming costume” swimmers and naturists rub shoulders without any awkwardness.
How to get there: 5km from the Frontignan-Plage exit on the D60, in direction of Des Aresquiers. Car park 500m away.
Lined by a 200 year-old pine forest, this beach gets it names from the Tamarix, a shrub with pastel rose coloured petals: La Tamarissière beach in Agde offers an ideal setting for you to swim. Between the sea and the Hérault River, a stroll will allow you to discover the Tamarixes, planted in the 18th century.
How to get there: 3,6km away from the centre of Agde via the D32E12, on the right bank of the Hérault river’s mouth.
